Jet Therapy and Stress Relief

The Jet Therapy invention uses pure air to facilitate an even deeper massage than conventional massage to relieve knots and tension.

Jet Therapy will produce a deep tissue massage that can only be compared to a cross friction massage performed by a physiotherapist, but without the same degree of reversible tissue damage (as proved in clinical trials).

Jet Therapy and Stress Relief

Clinical studies have shown that Jet Therapy not only increases blood flow, it provides a cooling effect on the skin, equivalent to a therapeutic ice-pack, without any discomfort on the skin. The massage causes the muscle tissue to warm from the inside. A muscle that is in spasm will be relaxed and the improved circulation will ensure that healing oxygen is delivered to the site of the damaged tissue.

Jet Therapy is not designed as a feel-good rub. Naturally our therapists use warm, gentle hands to prepare your body, but the real action is from the powerful pure air massage. Each person is individually assessed to establish how deep the massage must be for the tension to let go, without bruising! This is especially useful for large people who often get very little relief from a conventional massage.

Jet Therapy improves circulation and invigorates your body. Jet Therapy's strong, rejuvenating massage is deep-penetrating and relaxing. It melts away tension, helps detoxify your body and leaves you feeling soothed, energised and ready to face the world with renewed vigour.

What is Stress?

Every day of our lives is filled with some kind of stress. In fact, any situation can cause stress such as work, personal relationships, raising children, paying bills, the death of a loved one or a new experience. Even very happy occasions such as a family wedding, birth of a new baby or family vacation can be stressful. For many people with back pain, the greatest stress comes from unwanted changes in their lives caused by the pain itself. The body responds to stress by releasing hormones such as adrenaline. The heart rate and blood pressure may increase and the blood sugar levels rise.

If your pain is acute, you may be able to reduce your stress by reminding yourself that you just need to wait until the pain disappears. However, if your pain has become chronic, you may need to take a good look at what you want to do, what you need to do and what you actually can do. Try to set some new goals that are more realistic, taking into account your pain and limitations. Talking to understanding friends and family members about your new goals and abilities can make this task easier.

Many people tighten their back muscles when they are worried or tense. This can make existing back problems worse. Take a minute now to think about what happens in your own body when you worry or get tense. Do you think stress is affecting your back? Since we cannot remove everyday events from our lives, the key to managing stress is changing how we react to daily living. Think about how you react to everyday events. What methods do you have for relaxing and releasing tension from daily stress?

How Jet Therapy Treats Stress

The back is often the site where stress manifests itself in people who are desk/computer bound. The trapezius (the largest muscle in the back) spasms and tension nodules form in areas around the shoulder blades (scapula), on the muscles on each side of the spine (rhomboids) and on the outer edges of the shoulder blades (teres major). The treatment is concentrated around the shoulder blades, the sides of spine and the neck area.
