Jet Therapy and Sports Injuries

Jet Therapy increases the blood flow and oxygen to a damaged area thereby speeding up the recovery time. Jet Therapy will provide a deep tissue massage to alleviate pain caused by a sports injury.

What is Sport Injuries?

A violent overstretching of one or more ligaments in a certain region. When the ligament is overstretched, it becomes tense and gives way at its weakest point, either where it attaches to bone or within the ligament itself or a stretch or tear of any muscle tendons that surround the bone.

There are three types of sprains:

  • Mild - Tearing of some ligament fibres, with associated muscle spasm, there is loss of function.
  • Moderate - Rupture of a portion of the ligament, resulting in some loss of function.
  • Severe - Complete rupture of the ligament or complete separation of ligament from bone. There is total loss of function. A severe sprain may require surgical repair.

Body Parts Involved

  • Ligaments of the sacroiliac region.
  • Scrim (spinal region) and Ilium (bones of the pelvis).
  • Tissues surrounding the sprain, including blood vessels, tendons, bone, periosteum (covering of bone) and muscles.

Jet Therapy and Sports Injuries

Any sport injury, which will benefit from a deep penetrative massage, will have positive results from JET THERAPY treatment. JET THERAPY has already successfully treated tennis elbow, sprains, hamstrings, ligaments etc.

The deep penetrating massage and an increase in blood flow and oxygen to a damaged area, speeds up recovery time. Players can spend more time on the sport and less time injured saving money and time.

JET THERAPY eliminates toxins and lactic acid for a speedy recovery after the activity and enhances muscle tone preparatory to sporting activity.

Seriousness of Sports Injuries

How Jet Therapy Treats Sports Injuries

The number of treatments depends on the extent of the injury, with three to six sessions being recommended. Treatment is carried out at the origin and insertion of the muscle, as well as the area over the injury to stimulate the blood flow to encourage the healing of the injury whilst at the same time promoting removal of excess fluid that may have gathered at the site of the injury. The coldness of the Jet reduces the swelling and inflammation of the muscle. Oils are used together with the treatment to help with relieving the bruising and swelling in the area. An increase in the oxygen and nutrients to the muscle aids the healing process.
